Then The Shoe Dropped

I went into the office on Monday all set to get going on a few big projects. I worked on them all day Monday through an awkward silence between the owner (my boss) and my co-worker and I. I didn't think too much of it. I chalked it up to him being nervous about the dip in sales we have had over the last 30 days or so. At 5:30 I packed up, went home and had dinner with the family. The next morning I went into work and my coworker wasn't there yet. That was a HUGE red flag. She usually beats me into the office. Within 10 minutes I was back out the door with a severance package and a lay off. What exactly does it mean that I have been laid off from the last two jobs I've had. Probably nothing....I was at KMG for 5 years and there was nothing they could do and no where for me to go and that worked out great. I spent all winter and the spring getting ready for the move to Utah and the State of Michigan helped pay for that. But this time, wow. I was there for 8 months. It was a cool gig. I got to go to Broadway shows, time off when needed, I got to work from home on the weekends, it was great. Then our sales dropped and I was expendable. Oh well, it really doesn't bother me too much, just really bites when your plans aren't what God has in store for you. Sometimes I wish he would lend us his vision for our lives. I'd want to see what the next step is. Where do I go from here? I've toyed with opening a daycare so I can stay home with the boys while they grow up a little more but then I think that I'd still like to work...at this point I have time. Time to think about where to go next and what's really important.

I am sick of seeing 5am :)

Seriously? Where have I been? It's not like my life is that busy...maybe hectic but not busy...So sorry for not posting in what fees like FOREVER!

This week has been crazy. Worked hard this week and now I'll be working all weekend too. Not that I'm complaining! I love my job, if I've said it once, I've said it a million times. I LOVE MY JOB.

Can I just say, I am sick of feeling my feet hit the floor EVERYDAY by 5am? Chad works an odd shift and works the weekends... he leaves at 5:15am and is up at 4:30! That means I'm up too. It is nice to get a blissful if not groggy hour or so before children start to wander out but really, I'd rather be in the cozy confines of my bed...But then reality sets in and then my day really starts.

Today I am making mini cheesecakes for Fight Night. Yes, Fight Night! I love Fight Night. Chad and i get together with some great friends and watch grown men beat the snot out of each other. Gruesome? Some do say that. I say AWESOME! lol I am not really that into it. I couldn't tell you who is fighting when and the only on I remember is the California Kid and that's just because one friend is totally enamoured with him :)

Back to the task at hand. I have a few good deals today. Not too many. But hey, a deal is a deal right?

Hey, that's all I've got for now. If the kids don't tie me up, gag me and put me in the closet why they take over the house, I might be back later. Right now I am going to go enjoy some quiet time on the couch, with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view...even if it IS APRIL 30th and there IS SNOW EVERYWHERE! A little bitter. Yes. They keep telling me Spring is coming. I'll believe it when I see it.

I feel like it's Christmas Eve!

You know that feeling you get the night before Christmas? The excitement about the festivities that will follow going to bed that night? I am pretty sure everyone in our house feels that way today. Tomorrow the in-laws are flying in from Michigan for a weeks visit. The kids are so excited. They haven't seen their Papa since last July and their Nana was last here in October so this is long overdue! We have lots of great things planned. We are taking them on a surprise trip to an awesome place. I really want to tell you, but they read this blog so I can't spill it, but trust me it will be awesome! We are pulling the kids out of school for three days to enjoy the time with them. We've rented a Suburban so we can all ride together on our adventure which means we will fit in with every other Utahn on the road!

Ok so I know I have mentioned it before... BUT I love zulily! You never know exactly what you'll find—the brands they offer change every day. It's like finding a treasure chest full of cute stuff.
